New licensing opportunity from an established US publisher
Create self-funded coffee table books

Use your publishing expertise to develop a new income stream

Texas-based publisher HPN is the US market leader in 'sponsored books' and is looking for an Australian publisher to operate their business model under a licensing agreement. HPN has successfully published, or has in process, 120 titles.

HPN offers two series, or styles, of sponsored books:
The Community Heritage Series features illustrated histories of cities and other geographic definitions. These are often published as commemorative pieces for a significant anniversary of a city or other jurisdiction.
The Cityscape Series consists of a photographic essay of a city or other jurisdiction.
In either case the content is packaged in a beautiful, oversized coffee table book.

The books are funded through the sale of business 'profiles' which comprise a second section of the book. These stories can be histories of a company or organisation, or they can describe the activities, products, services and other features of a business entity.

The sponsoring organisation earns significant income through the relationship with HPN Books, which gains the credibility and imprimatur of the organisation to enhance the marketing of the business stories.

A typical project earns from US$100,000 to US$500,000 in gross sales. Net income, after all expenses, can be as high as 15%-20%.

CEO Ron Lammert comments: 'A great part of our business model is that it is highly scalable. A book on a small community may generate only a fraction of the income for a large city, but the resulting costs are scaled lower. We take on small projects only because there are a lot more small markets than large ones.'

HPN seeks an organization or person with experience in marketing advertising and/or non-profit fund raising.  HPN offers an expensive, prestigious PR opportunity to a participating company, so the marketer needs to be skilled at presenting at the very highest corporate level.

Under the proposal, HPN would provide training, all documents, sample books, etc. to the licensee. They would be given the authority to use the name HPN Books in Australia, under an assumed name owned by the licensee. HPN would require payment of a small percentage of gross sales on each project and would control the design of each book, for an additional fee to pay for graphic production.

The licensee would bank all income from a project, pay everyone associated with the project and pay the printer, selected by the licensee.
