The Maggies are open

Monday, August 20, 2012

PA member iSUBSCRiBE has announced the return of the popular magazine cover competition for 2012.

Ita Buttrose will again chair the panel of judges for The Maggies 2012 and commented: "The greatest challenge of course is to produce the unforgettable cover - the one with the WOW factor, the one that says pick me up NOW! That's what I will be looking for when I review the entries. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the editors and their designers have been doing with their covers in the past 12 months.”

The judges will select a short list from the nominated covers, which will be put to public vote from 29th October via www.themaggies.com.au, and the winners will be announced in early December.

Last year's winner was a Woman’s Day cover featuring a young Elizabeth Taylor.

PA Marketing Manager Isabel Wartho said: We're very happy to support the Maggies. The national poll will stimulate consumer engagament with magazines and the panel of high calibre judges should generate positive press coverage - both are good for the magazine publishing industry as a whole."

While there is no formal entry fee, publishers are encouraged to make a voluntary donation to The Maggies chosen charity, Alzheimer’s Australia.

The public will be incentivised to vote for their favourite magazine cover with a reward of a $5 gift voucher to be redeemed against iSUBSCRiBE’s entire range of over 2,500 magazine and newspaper subscriptions. In addition, $1 from every subscription sold using the gift vouchers will be donated to Alzheimer’s Australia.
